Miramax pacts with Netflix in U.K., Ireland

“The Aviator” is among Miramax titles available through Netflix.

Miramax has inked a multi-year licensing deal with Netflix in the U.K. and Ireland, the third content partner to join the service in the territory.Miramax titles, including “The Aviator,” “The Hours,” “The Talented Mr. Ripley” and “Gangs of New York,” will be available to watch instantly via Netflix at the beginning of next year, when the service bows.Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.In February, Lionsgate, Studiocanal and Miramax partnered to release more than 500 Miramax titles on home entertainment platforms worldwide, but this deal did not include streaming via digital platforms.Lionsgate U.K. confirmed that it had inked with Netflix in Blighty and Ireland on Monday, while MGM pacted with the service on Nov 7.Netflix confirmed in October that it was launching in the U.K. after Variety reported the news July 15.
